Road Map to MLM Success

I trust my company to provide us with excellent products that I can use and confidently recommend. But I’ve noticed that the people who build the biggest businesses in all the companies I’ve been with aren’t product experts and seldom have more than 10-20 customers.

The product experts always fail to make that stable long term passive income.

Why? Because there’s always another latest greatest product to be had from another company or infomercial or whatever and off your customers go.

The only loyal customer is one building the business i.e. why would they use Brand X when their own company pays them an incentive to use their own products?
That’s the brilliance of Network Marketing but because we’ve become so acclimated to business as usual, you know, one person selling a lot of product to make money, it’s difficult to see that many people each using and selling a small amount of product is really a better business model.

The other thing is, selling products is “time intensive” and justifying a product’s cost to mostly one time buyers is exhausting and emotionally draining.

But most of us get caught up in that dance.

We believe in the product and by god we’re going to make everyone else see what we see in it come hell or high water. This has been my biggest challenge in every company I’ve been in. I become enamored with a product, think it’s going to save the world, and get crushed when no one sees what I do.

Conclusion: THE BUSINESS DOESN’T WORK

But the evidence that it does work is obvious. People are making boatloads of money, not because they sell the product but because they sell the money that can be made.

Interestingly, by selling the income potential, they wind up helping more people to use the great products.

And about as obvious as a wort on the tip your nose (that no one talks about), is the fact that the upline markets to the downline. This, in my opinion, is one cause of distrust and suspicion in Network Marketing. Not that this is a bad business model just that no one is up front about it.

It’s an obvious secret.

Then, the unasked question is; Is my upline trying to help me or is he trying to make money from me? The answer is yes, both!

At least it is on our team. How can I be sure? Because the master distributor (my upline) sends marketing messages out to his entire downline, not to just me. The results of those messages benefit everyone from the newbie who joined under me today to the first person to join the master distributor three years ago.

Another way of saying this is;

All marketing by my upline to me and my downline, benefits everyone in my organization with a downline of their own.

A good graphic is; A speaker at the front of a room must be loud enough that a person at the back of the room can hear what he’s saying. Everyone between the speaker and the person in the last row benefits as a result.

I think everyone has seen the illustration of the single radio wave bouncing off the satellite reaching everyone who is tuned in. Same thing here.

So why the big secret?

When things go unsaid, when there isn’t full disclosure, distrust is the result.

Road Map to MLM Success

You didn’t want them to be “latch key kids”.

Working from home was the perfect solution. You wanted to provide everything your family had never had and be there to listen to their school day stories. You wanted more time to spend with each of them.

How could a beautiful idea like that go so bad?

You met some “MLM Big Dog”, who told you to just put your faith in them, to trust them … and you did. In that moment, you thought you were on your way to financial freedom, to giving your family all those things they so richly deserved. But then, over time, it went wrong.

Very wrong.

You believed it was a slam dunk, so you spent money you couldn’t afford to lose. You made credit card charges that will take months, even years to repay. Instead of wild profits, you got demoralizing losses.

You set out to provide a better life for your family and a stress free childhood the kids would remember fondly. You wound up with a mountain of debt and certain family members laughing behind your back. Worst of all now, in your heart you doubt that you could ever be successful at your own business.

Can you pick out the Green guy in this picture?

Sure, I know this is a creative way to advertise. Mark Joyner is getting people to check out all the “pay-for” courses he’s offering by giving this one away. All I have to do is put a code somewhere in this post.

There are so many free blogging courses on the internet why do I need another? I’m green.

Don’t know what being Green means? Lemme’ explain the four personality colors:

· Blue, their motto is: Fun, Fun and more Fun. They’re the life of the party,
The Socializers.

· Red, their motto is: Do as I do, it’s the best way. They’re the Dominant Directors.

· Yellow, their motto is: Let’s be friends! They’re the Gentle Soft-spoken Relaters.

· Green, our motto is: Give me the facts. Let me crunch the numbers I need more information…or in this case another “Course”. Paralysis by analysis, that’s us. We live in our heads, we’re The Thinkers.

Obviously, we are each a combination of all the colors…by degree.
I’m 45% Green, 30% Blue, 25% Yellow and 5% Red.

But I think I’m 100% Blue when I’m off my meds.

Another course, you bet! Anything to keep me clacking away at this keyboard.

Not only did the prospect of learning something get me salivating, the guy’s writing style is fun. His “copy” made me want to see what he had to offer. The guy’s no moron.

Can you pick out the Green guy in this picture?

They make it sound so good too. They’ll tell you about a wonderful new software program that will do all the work for you. The only thing you’ll be responsible for is making that enormous deposit into your bank account. Everything else is automated.

You can get blinded by all the dazzling gadgets these days, but the fact is, MLM success will always depend on relationships. Any automatic or mechanical system won’t stand the test of time.
Reality Check: If everything were automated……why would they need you? Hello!!????

It takes humans to make network marketing successful, because people want to know someone real is there to teach them the ins and outs, a team to mastermind with. You know, people to kick ideas around with and get new perspectives from.

There are plenty of people out there who think everything has changed with the Internet, that you can just click a mouse, never talk to anyone, and build a thriving business.

That’s absolutely not true.

Well, that strategy may have worked for Bobby but it doesn’t work for you and me in MLM. There’s no better time to get busy and build then when you first get into your MLM company.

Your interest, excitement and enthusiasm will make up for your lack of knowledge and experience. It’s also a time when you will accept the help of your upline without reservation.

The longer you wait to take action the more your mind justifies not asking for help because, “I should know this. After all, I’m not a newbie anymore.” It’s your responsibility to ask for help.

If your sponsor can’t help you, keep asking upline until you find someone who will work with you.

So don’t wait, get with your sponsor, agree to a daily action plan. Set some goals that excite you, flesh out your “Why” Your daily action plan will get you to your goals. Your goals are the stepping stones to realizing your “Why”.

A high level of urgency is key. It’s also contagious so let your downline see you building urgently. Did you get that? Let them SEE you building urgently. They’ll do what you do only if they can see you do it. You’ve got to walk the talk.

We all lose focus at times. It’s usually because we stop doing our daily actions which keeps from achieving our goals and our WHY seems to be unattainable.

Swallow your pride and go upline. Tell your sponsor, review your action plan, goals and WHY. Maybe your goals and/or WHY have changed without you even realizing it.

If you don’t “reboot”, apathy will set in and there’s nothing more contagious then apathy.
Webster’s New Collegiate Dictionary defines apathy: 1 : lack of feeling or emotion : impassiveness 2 : lack of interest or concern : indifference.
Apathy will kill your dreams and those of your team….silently….because apathetic people usually don’t realize that they’ve become apathetic so they don’t reach out for help, they don’t say anything. They just seem to go away…silently. Ouch! Point is, it could have been avoided with just a little honesty and a dream building session with your sponsor.

There’s a good reason for being aware of apathy and maintaining an urgent mindset.

Let me tell you about Fred. He and I worked a communication company together many years ago. He had a great personality, laughed easily and everyone spoke highly of Fred. But he just seemed lose interest in the business. He adopted an “I’ll do it tomorrow” attitude. Fred concentrated instead on his daytime job trading hours for dollars. Before Fred was able to get back to the business, the business went out of business.

We’d meet for lunch once in awhile over the years, I’d tell him about my company and products, do a little dream building but Fred still had the “I’ll do it tomorrow” thing going on.

About a year and a half ago I ran into Fred at a gas station. He was talking as though he was intoxicated. Fred didn’t drink. He confided to me that he had ALS i.e. Lou Gehrig’s Disease. The first thing ALS attacked was Fred’s ability to communicate, one thing he did so well. Then ALS went on to ravage his nervous system and muscles.

My buddy Fred died several months ago still in his fifties, in the early morning hours with his wife at his side. He left two great kids, his wife, dozens of friends that loved him dearly and a mountain of hospital bills.

None of us know if we’ll have a tomorrow let alone the time to build a passive income that will soften the impact of our passing on and the financial burden to our family that may result. You’ve got to do it NOW, not tomorrow, because you can’t be sure that there will be a tomorrow.

And that is really the crux of the problem. You sure don’t want to go out of this life thinking, “If only …”. So you must feed your own urgent attitude. And you must help each team member expand and nourish their urgent attitude. When you have an entire team urgently building long-term, THEN you have really done something.

Again, you yourself have to walk the talk. People need to see you as the role model for “patient urgency.” We all have many years of bad habits to overcome, identify the worst of the lot, and map out a plan to replace them. Don’t break habits, replace them. Start NOW. Urgently!

Maybe the most helpful tool you’ll find is the book “The Slight Edge”, by Jeff Olson. He’ll teach you to make little changes that combine to make a big difference over time. You can spend just 2 or 3 minutes a day, if you do it consistently every day, and over time, it will change your life. And the biggest change you can focus on is … getting more urgency into pursuing your MLM opportunity. That’s where you’ll get the biggest, fastest payback from.

My first thought when I get a call like that is, “Hell no, my options are closed tighter then a clam’s behind if I have to do what you’re doing to make a buck.” Isn’t that really what he just showed you? You know, how he’s making his money.

He’s reading from a worn out, poorly written script his upline BigDog said works 100% of the time. After a little practice of course.

You’ll have to support your business until it can support itself and then eventually…. you.
The daily actions must be something you will really do. Otherwise, you’ll find excuses for not doing the things that are necessary to get your new business making money.

Is this something you can get behind 100%?

Is the guy you’re talking to giving you a model you can follow enthusiastically?

Policies and Procedures and Terms and Conditions have interfered in my life.

If I have the choice between eating diner and reading P&P… I eat while reading P&Ps. No kidding! I’ve had piping hot cups of coffee turn cold as ice between page 32 and page 64.
So what’s the attraction? What keeps me glued to my computer screen for hours at a time?

It’s the thrill of finding a hidden clause that says something like “We can jerk your paycheck out of your hands whenever we damn well please. And we can do it legally because we know you won’t read this sentence because by now (pg35) your eyes are tear-filled and glazed over in boredom.”

The Bigger Your Paycheck….The Bigger The Target You Become

Or, “Work you butt off, build our company, create a monthly residual income of $40,000 and just try to retire and play on the beaches of the world. Just try! It ain’t happening babe because we have one word hidden in this contract that’ll keep you from living that dream.”

How about this? “If anyone in your household breaks the law, does anything that would reflect badly on the company, if you as a rep of the company had done it, we’ll terminate you. AKA Stealing your paycheck, down line and retirement income.”
Don’t forget, you agreed to all of this when you signed the contract. You don’t have any recourse, none.

Speaking about having no recourse, how about this? “The company reserves the right to sue you for anything at any time but you waive your right to sue the company for anything.” Or, “You agree not to join in a class action suite against the company under any circumstance. Because we know that you don’t have the money to fight a billion dollar company by yourself.”

Okay, I’ve paraphrased and interjected a little humor into a subject that is just slightly more exciting then watching grass grow. But you might be thinking, “Nah, this is BS. My upline’s a smart guy/gal, he/she would never sign on to something like that. Besides, we’re friends! We’ve known each other since pre-school! Our kids start fires and blow up frogs together. Lil’ darlins’ :)”

“Friends don’t stick it to one and other like that.”

And you’d be right. Friends don’t screw friends, knowingly. But your friend, your upline was just as excited about getting in the business when he/she signed up and didn’t read the P&P either. They trusted their upline who trusted their upline right to the top of the pay line.

That’s just the way excited people are and the company lawyers know it. When Joe Regular is signing up he has dollar signs in his eyes. Reading a boring contract is the last thing he wants to do. Hell, there’s money to be made. There’s no time to loose, he has to get to all his friends and family before someone else does.

It’s a patented proprietary product.

Didn’t that guy in the power suit say, “Everyone is going to want this product. Wouldn’t it be better if they got it from you and not your neighbor?” Read a contract? Sure, later after I make my first million.

Well, the million is long in coming and “later” to read a contract doesn’t happen unless the company terminates Joe for “Cause”. The reality is that Joe got 86ed from the company “BeCause,” because the company needed fuel for the their jet or to show the stock holders higher earnings for this quarter. Use your imagination, there’s a boatload of reasons you’ll come up with.

You’re probably thinking, “This is minimally entertaining. This guy’s probably a disgruntled rep who got terminated and now he’s crying in his milk.

But where’s his proof?

Not so oh skeptical one! I never got a termination letter. And my proof is in the video below. I’ll show you actual quotes from Policies and Procedures, Terms and Conditions and the notes I’ve made on them over the past two years. You’ll recognize the companies, I’m sure.

Oh! Before I forget.

If you see your friend’s company mentioned here and you value that friendship, don’t you tell them, let me. If you point out that their company is poised to take their paycheck, you’ll be seen as the bad guy.

For some reason they go deep into denial and you’ll catch the brunt of their anger. I’m used to people being mad at me and besides, your friends aren’t going to ask me to Christmas dinner or a wedding anyway.
